From Pastry Chef to Branding Expert: An Interview with Sarah from Odd Kitchen Creative
In today's digital age, a strong and cohesive brand image is more important than ever.
Recently, I had the pleasure of working with Sarah from Odd Kitchen Creative - a website development and branding expert. Keep reading to learn more about her business and who it helps.
What inspired you to start your business?
I've always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and after my kids were born, I found myself gradually leaning more towards it.
Having spent over a decade as a pastry chef, I eventually burned out and decided to pivot towards something I’ve always been passionate about: design and organizing information.
Interestingly, I almost pursued a degree in library and information science.
Over the years, while managing a few blogs, I took on more responsibilities and eventually realized I wanted to design them as well. The desire for the freedom to work from anywhere also played a significant role in this transition.
What services do you offer?
I offer a range of services including web design, WordPress development, SEO, copywriting/content writing, website management, and branding design (logos, color schemes, etc.).
List 5 adjectives that you would like your clients to use to describe you.
Reliable/communicative, competent, creative, professional, enthusiastic.
Who is your target market?
My target market has evolved, but it primarily includes women aged 35-60 who are small business owners/entrepreneurs in the Western Suburbs of Chicago.
They are visionaries who understand the importance of investing in their digital presence.
These women are passionate about their work and are big on community-building. They range from new business owners to those seeking to enhance their web presence.
They appreciate good design but are not designers themselves.
Personality traits of my target market include being highly driven, professional, open-minded, and compassionate.
They care about making money but also genuinely care about others.
Recently, I've started to forge connections within my community, as it feels like a more authentic way to run my business.
How do you want clients to benefit from your business?
I want clients to have an easy and effortless experience that enhances their daily work life by saving time and providing a website they are proud of. More specifically:
Improve the efficiency of their daily operations by having a website that streamlines processes and works for them, not against them.
Increase traffic to their site and attract their target audience.
Boost their self-confidence to charge more and expand, by revitalizing or creating a brand that resonates with them and their audience.
